Post Op Day 13

Ok, so this video is a bit long...mostly I explain about what's been going on with Bear and his recovery. Then I went into nurse mode for a bit, talking about the toll that steroids have taken on my body during these last two years.   There was a lot of content to cover on that topic because long-term steroid use causes many negative and often times, harmful side effects.  BUT, prednisone was the one and only thing that ever calmed down the signs/symptoms of my disease.  It was a double edged sword and I can't wait to taper off of them.  3 more weeks!

Grateful, oh so grateful

Got to attend a church service this morning with my momma. I've been feeling so unbelievably grateful for each and every one of you that have reached out to me since I began this journey to getting healthy in 2014! All of the prayers, cards, and well wishes have truly humbled me and have brought me to tears more times that I can count. I feel incredibly lucky to have such a phenomenal support group. I've got God, my amazing guardian angels (which include my Davery and Grandma/Grandpa Roberts, all of whom passed away last year), a fantastic family network and some of THE best friends, that span across the U.S., that a girl could ask for! So today at church was a day of thankfulness. And prayer for all of those that have kept me in theirs these past few weeks. I'm not sure what I did to deserve so much kindness and caring from y'all...but my heart is very full and for that, I thank you. Truly. XOXO

Post Op Day 11

Gettin ready for THE big game!

Came home from our walk and decided to do a little baking for the Super Bowl tomorrow!!! Go Broncos!!!

The blue turned out a little more teal than I would've liked...but, they taste delicious! So that's the important part, right?! Right. :)

Did a lil walking today

Followed Nurse Elena's orders and went for a stroll through a nearby park today! It was sunny and 55 degrees out, although slightly windy for East TN!

There's rain in the forecast for the next 4 days, so we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous day! Mom loves all the trees in TN!

Post Op Day 10

I feel like I should give y'all a fair warning.  Today I took on more of a nurse's role and I talk a lot about what having ulcerative colitis was like prior to my surgery. Then I go on to describe how things have changed for me since my colon was removed. Again, I'm giving you a warning.  I am a nurse and this is not a pretty disease.  Therefore, those of you that don't like talking about stool or blood, or bloody stools, should probably skip today's blog!  And for those of you that do to choose to watch it, well, maybe you'll have a greater understanding of why I say that every day is 'a really good day!'  I've come so far in such a short amount of time...I can't wait to see the positive changes that will happen in the next 9 short months!

Girls girls girls

Ms Michelle and Ms Jaye stopped by for a lil vino and movie night!!! I just love getting together with these two and the laughter and stories that come with them! They say laughter is the best medicine and I couldn't agree more!  Well laughter and wine...and for the record, this is my first post-op glass!  It was oh-so-delicious and just what the doctor ordered :)
